How Smarta Energy supports the Public Sector through real, practical change

It’s easy to talk about values. It’s much harder to live by them, especially in the public sector, where budgets are tight, expectations are high, and every decision is scrutinised. At Smarta Energy, we are not here to tick boxes or push buzzwords, which frankly confuse everyone involved. We are here to help turn good intentions into real-world impact.

Supporting the public sector isn’t just about selling services, it’s about solving problems. That’s why everything we do is built around listening first, acting with purpose, and delivering solutions that work for real people, real buildings, and real budgets.

In the end, it’s not about doing what’s easy. It’s about doing what’s right, and that is exactly the foundation our public sector campaign is built.

Starting With Listening, Not Selling

When we began shaping our Public Sector Energy Support Campaign, we didn’t lead with a pitch; we led with conversations. Conversations that shaped everything we put out to the world.

We spoke to headteachers struggling with outdated heating systems and rising bills. The people who we trust with the lives of the younger generation for 6+ hours a day, 5 days a week. The same people who are juggling student needs, criticism from the public, learning new technology to best serve their students, and all while managing a school that brings a long list of challenges.

We listened to council officers caught in complex procurement processes, who are already struggling with long-term sustainability solutions.

We heard from NHS estate managers balancing patient care with the pressure to decarbonise. Across different regions and responsibilities, the message was consistent: “We want to make progress, but we don’t have the tools or support to get there.”

That’s exactly what we set out to change.

Turning Ambition into Action with the Renewable Rewards Fund

One of the biggest barriers to progress is funding. That’s why Smarta Energy, with the help of energy suppliers, created the Renewable Rewards Fund, a £25 million initiative to help schools, councils, housing associations, and NHS trusts install energy-saving measures with zero upfront cost and no interest.

This isn’t a gimmick. It’s not a short-term grant or a marketing hook. It’s a long-term funding solution that enables the public sector to invest in solar, heat pumps, LED lighting, and other smart upgrades without taking on financial risk.

There’s still £14.2 million available for eligible organisations, and our team is here to guide you through the process, from scoping your needs to securing the support.

Built Around Public Sector Realities

We know that what works for one organisation might not work for another. Not every organisation is built for solar panels, for example, which is a large project; however, we tailor our services according to your needs, no matter the size or struggle.

A tailored approach isn’t just preferable, it’s essential.

Smarta Energy doesn’t offer off-the-shelf solutions. Instead, we build energy strategies that reflect the size, structure, and complexity of your estate. Whether you are running a large city council, a multi-academy trust, or a single-site healthcare facility, our team works with you to design a solution that fits. We operate within trusted public frameworks, offer procurement-ready documentation, and ensure that implementation is smooth and scalable.

Simplifying Energy Conversations

Let’s face it, energy jargon and shifting policy can leave even experienced teams unsure where to begin, and let’s not get started on the acronyms. Does anyone not specialising in energy have the time to Google what CDM, DNO, ESOS, MEES, or TM44 means? Apart from our expert team, of course.

Our approach is to simplify, not overcomplicate. Through straight-talking webinars, easy-to-follow procurement booklets, and tailored support calls, we break down what matters most. That might be understanding where your estate is losing energy, how to access relevant grants, or how to make a strong case for investment to your leadership team.

We make energy strategy more approachable and easier to action, especially for teams juggling multiple priorities.

We Don’t Shout, We Show

We are proud of what we have built, but our focus isn’t on loud marketing. It’s on delivering measurable, meaningful results.

Our success isn’t defined by headlines or award nominations. It’s defined by the tonnes of carbon saved, the number of roofs now fitted with solar, and the school leaders who tell us we made their job a little easier, and of course, how the community has benefited. It’s more than just energy; it’s about helping the organisations that do so much for our communities.

Without the services they provide, we wouldn’t have an education for young people, safe spaces for the community to meet, lives saved by the overworked healthcare workforce.

We don’t believe in inflated promises or quick wins. We believe in building trust, funding progress, and being the team you can count on to follow through.

The Work Ahead

We are only just getting started. With millions still available in the Renewable Rewards Fund, we’re actively expanding our support to more regions, more sectors, and more frontline organisations who need a partner, not just a provider.
